Michiko Nagao
1971年、北海道夕張郡長沼町生まれ。
1995年から農村を取材し、 PR誌制作という農産物のおいしさを伝える仕事につく中で、人々の暮らしぶりや農村の ありように惹かれていった。2003年~現在までフリーの農村ライターとして活動。
自家用野菜が植えられているビニールハウス、きれいに片付いている納屋、おばあさんの手作りの漬物やおやつ、おじいさんの天気や建物の話、お祭りや運動会の話…。食べ物を栽培し、保存すること、建物を作ること…自分たちの暮らしを自分で作ることは、昔は当たり前だったけれど、現在はそれらが消えつつある。これからを生きていく私たちが今、一番欠落していて、一番必要なものは自分の力で生きていくこと。そのためにも、昔、当たり前にあった技や心を残していきたいと考え、時間ができれば、それらが残っている農村へ足を運び、暮らす人々に話を聞き、一緒に飲み、 食べ、そこで聞いた話を文章として発信・講演等を行い、一人でも多くの人々に伝えようと活動している。

Michiko Nagao was born in 1971, Yubari, Hokkaido, Japan. While she has worked as a journalist and PR in the field of agriculture from 1995, she has been intrigued by farmer’s life and agricultural scenes. Since 2003, she has been being active in writing and giving lectures as a freelance journalist, aiming to convey the traditional agricultural techniques, concepts and spirits to the modern life, as well as to record local farmers' life style which is remaining in traditional way.
