Tomohiko Murakami
1978年、北海道恵庭市生まれ。Gen&Co.代表。
札幌市立高等専門学校インダストリアルデザイン学科建築デザインコース卒業後、1999年より、社寺建築の世界に携わる。関西方面を中心に現場に住み込みで各地をまわる。2008年から、大工としての仕事の他に、社寺建築での端材や古材を使った内装の設計、デザイン、施工、注文家具や木工品を創り始める。
2012年より、拠点を北海道恵庭市に移し、スプーンからお寺、神社まで、木材を中心とした生活を豊かにするものつくりを始める。国内外問わず活動中。

自分の身のまわりのモノを活かし、自分で創る。
古来より繰り返され、工夫されてきた自ら手を動かすという、当たり前の営みも分業が進み、お金を出せば何でも買える現在、時間をかけて、自らの手でつくり出すことは、とても贅沢で価値のあることになりました。
スプーンひとつからお寺の本堂まで。
１人でできることからチームプレイまで。
社寺建築の現場で培った伝統的な技術と知識、デザインを軸に、
大工・建築家・デザイナーという立場を行き来し、幅広く活動している。

Tomohiko Murakami is a carpenter as well as a wood- worker/artist. Born in Hokkaido, Japan, 1978.
After finished his study of architectural design as well as foundations of art and design, at Sapporo School of the Arts in Sapporo, Hokkaido. He has been working as a carpenter in the traditional way for more than 10 years and traveling around in Japan for building/ renovation projects of temple and shrine. Since 2008, he has began to create original products out of wood wastes produced while building-production process of mostly temple and shrine. His original works in- cludes furniture manufacturing are mostly made of specific quality of timber for temple and shrine with his traditional way of craftsmanship which consists of refined sensibility and his honest character.
He is aiming to enrich people’s lifestyle by wooden works from spoon to temple shrine. Representative, Gen & Co.
